Logical Ecology
Reef Roxtm are environmentally friendly.
Responsible reefkeeping
We can choose; be the guardians of the seas or oversee the destruction of the oceans. Mining the reef for the rock is hugely destructive to the marine coral reef ecosystem. As responsible aquarists we should be doing our upmost to selecting the most environmentally responsible stocks we can, from aquacultured corals and fish to synthetic live rocks.
Protecting the reef ecosystem
By opting for the majority synthetic rocks in our aquariums, we are cutting down on destruction of the actual reef environment. Reducing pollution from international airfrieght of heavy rocks. Even live rock needs to be cured as masses of organisms die off after removal from natural habitat.
Conscientious aquarist
Luckily there is a huge plethora of cultured corals that can fill our aquariums in no time without even a single removal from the oceans. We could even fully stock our aquariums from fellow hobbyists and once growing, we can frag and spread our own corals. The same can’t be said about many of our fishy friends or crabby invertebrates! However, even here there are some exceptions, like the wonderful clown fish who are readily reared commercially and they can be put together with the wonderful bubble tip anemones, also mostly aquarium reared.
