We are regrowing our algae stocks

Caulerpa Taxifolia is a beautiful macroalgae species, offering serrated fronds which can grow up to 20-30 cm long.

Caulerpa Taxifolia will add a great natural look to the marine tank.

Our product offering is for a single or multiple stolons (strands / stems) of Caulerpa similar as seen in the photos. We will make sure you get at least 10 fronds / leaves. Due to the nature of the algae, it may arrive as not a sinlge strand but multiple, as they break easily when harvesting, but we will try our best to get single stolons. Each broken piece will grow nicely if there is enough nutrient. For faster growth we recommend breaking the stolon into sections with 3 or more fronds. Each will grow faster.

The fronds are approximately 4 to 5 cms high. You may get some longer than this.

It will be vacuum sealed with some salt water to keep any copepods and the algae alive, double bagged.

Light
The Caulerpa Taxifolia macroalgae needs a medium to strong lighting to grow well.

Attaching
As this Caulerpa algae species will attach itself to rock etc. we recommend not to place it too close to your main rock, unless you like to have it there. It needs some trimming and care. Great to keep in the refugium/sump as well for nitrate and phosphate removal.

Caulerpa Case
Some Caulerpa macroalgae species might go sexual, which means that it releases gametes and tissue into the aquarium water. One way to avoid this is good light and to remove pale turning parts of it.

Trimming
Whitish parts of this algae should be removed as they are decomposing.

Placement
This macroalgae can be either placed in the Refugium where it would need an enclosed space or in the marine Display Tank.

It provides great holdfasts for Seahorses.
